Let us pray with the Haitians

for there recent disaster. Not getting the news here each day can sometimes have its disavantages like not hearing about the terrible disaster until last evenings news on BBC radio.
It certainly is enough to make any one of us weep for those who have last their families, friends; their homes and all their belongings. What can we do to help them. One way is to volunteer to go and assist, another is to contribute funds, but the one that we know doeswork is prayer. It always sounds trite when we say let us pray for these people but it is what all of us can do and we know that God hears our prayers.
Many want to blame God for terrible things such as earthquakes, tsunamis, avalanches and other horrible disasters and that is just an easy way to ty and understand why these things happen.
Todays reading from St. Athanasius speaks so well about the divine harmony in creation. It does not answer the obvious question but perhaps it will help us to see that even these disasters are part of that harmony. How or why I can't answer but I'm sure you can read on the internet what scholars and theologians are saying. You should look at the articles to gain insight into this Divine Harmony.
