26 October 11

By the end of the morning we had seen around 35 patients, most of them Malaria. At that point we used our last dose of medicine for Malaria and because we were in the red we could not send the children to the private clinic.
A woman with three children (on on her back) came to the gate saying her children were sick. It was pretty obvious that they had Malaria but I had to tell the woman she would have to go back to town and go to the pharmacy. The pharmacist would dispense the correct dose for each child and the cost would be about $2.50 per child. She said she had no money and all I could do was tell her that we were sorry be we are truly out of medicine. She just bent over as if to say "I can't take it"...she had the look of someone who just wanted to lie down and cry. I felt so bad that I could have cried myself. Then she begged "please help me" but we were unable to give her any help as my pockets are bare. She went away crying.
